Intensive Treatment Unit Program (ITU)

Bethesda Children's Home is a staff secure residential treatment facility which provides comprehensive residential support services. The following are a list of services provided in our Intensive Treatment Unit Program:

Bethesda  Intenstive Treatment Unit
  • 24-hour staff supervision
  • 3 all female units and 1 all male unit (54 beds)
  • Structured daily routines
  • Behavior Management System
  • Level system based on expectations, rewards, and accountability
  • Daily skill building groups:
    • Current events
    • Independent living
    • Social skills
    • Grief and loss
    • Healthy Choices
    • Drug and alcohol
    • Employment
    • Sexual abuse
    • Problem Solving

  • PTSD
  • Anger management
  • Conflict resolution
  • Problem solving
  • Stress management/relaxation
  • Family structures
  • Self-esteem
  • Goal setting
  • Assertiveness training
  • Academic achievement
  • Sex education
  • On-campus emotional support classrooms (summer school program) & alternative educational programs.

  • On-campus psychiatric services/evaluations & monitoring.

  • 5:1 client to staff ratio.

  • Strengths based individualized treatment planning.

  • Individual and family therapy with masters level therapist.

Admission Criteria
(Male or Female)

• Youth 12 - 18 years of age

• Dependant or Delinquent.

• Free From Chemical Dependency.

• I.Q. of 70 or above.

• Possess a rudimentary value system.

• Demonstrate ability to feel guilt and/or remorse.

• Has a willingness or ability to accept authority.

• Is not actively psychotic or demonstrating clinical necessity for inpatient level of care
